In the middle of a horrendous few days, with massacres in Arizona and massive, death-dealing floods in Australia, I ran into something that helped to restore my perspective. I was sitting in my study, at my desk and on this computer, when I looked out of the window at something on a tree branch. I took another look and started to laugh: it was a winter-coated squirrel, chewing at an enormous roll. He/she was seriously bundled up, a la Mother Nature. Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom…
There’s going to be another major, major storm coming our way tonight. They’re predicting 10 – 15 inches of snow. You know what the scene will be like in 2,000 years? No people left after we’ve managed to kill ourselves off, but another squirrel will be eating his/her lunch, the same as always. Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom…
That is too cute! I hope you weather the storm okay. It sounds like lots of friends of mine in the Boston area got a day off from work.
Thanks, and yes – he/she’s a cutie. My husband’s home from work today, trying to shovel out. It’s still coming down sideways, so he has his work cut out for him.
So cute. So warm and cuddly. Still – mustn’t forget a squirrel is just a rat with a furry tail.
Oh! *curls up* Hand me a nut?
Only if they don’t learn to use their opposable thumbs and create a new world order from the ashes of our previous world. I can see it now, their Statue of Liberty has a tail…
Oh, and bread and nuts. Can’t forget the bread and nuts.
